Bio

I find life very beautiful and mysterious. That's what I try to capture in my paintings. Though I have made art continuously since I could hold a crayon, dance and choreography has been my main career. Improvisation has been a central part of both my dancing and my visual art. In recent months, I have approached a blank canvas devoid of preconceptions. I try to postpone that moment of finding the subject matter as long as possible. I am fascinated by exploring the intersection of accident, imagination and gesture. I paint for a few months each year on the south coast of Jamaica. Spending time there over many years has resulted in a vibrant color palette that finds its way into all my work. My work has appeared in group shows, is included in many private collections and I have created commissioned works for Children's Hospital Boston and Waltham. This summer, I shared an exhibit, IN CLOSE PROXIMITY, with my husband, artist Bobby Brown at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, MA.
