Artist Resources

  • Roger Foam Corporation is the overall property manager of the building and manages studio rentals for Vernon Street Studios. To inquire about renting studio space, please contact Michael DeSimone of Rogers Foam Corporation. Telephone: 617-623-3010 x1522 Email: MDeSimone@rogersfoam.com

From time to time, individual artist leaseholders offer sublets for their artist spaces- there is no central contact or listing place for this. Sublet opportunities  are often shared on the SomervilleArts Google group.

Please note that this website is maintained by the Vernon Street Artist Coordinators and we do not manage any studio rentals.

  • We are thrilled to have so many talented individuals as part of our community. Vernon Street Studios consists of two buildings, 6 & 20 Vernon Street and is home to over 100 artists. While Roger Foam is the overall property manager of the building, our collective has a small group of coordinators to help assist in art-related matters. The coordinators’ roles are to organize the Open Studios events and act as ambassadors to the building.

In addition, the studio building has a Vernon St community Google groups email forum:

    vernonstreet@googlegroups.com

    Follow
    https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/vernonstreet to subscribe.

Artists are free to use this to correspond with one another regarding issues in the building, events, opportunities, items for sale, etc. Keep in mind when you are posting or responding to this email, you are responding to everyone on this list. During Open Studios time, we post more frequently. However, throughout the year we also share various art opportunities that might be of interest to our community. You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram.

    Leaseholders & Sub-letters

Leaseholders are primarily responsible for the care and management of the studio space. For those with subletters, it is their responsibility for informing the coordinators who are occupying the space. That way everyone can stay informed about the ongoings of the building such as registration for upcoming Open Studios events. Sub-letters are still required to register if they wish to participate in this type of event. For long-term studio commitments and information on getting your own space, please contact Michael DeSimone of Rogers Foam Corp. at 617-623-3010 x 1522 or email him at MDeSimone@rogersfoam.com. Mike also coordinates the artists’ leases and insurance for the building.

    Parking

For those who do not have a Somerville resident sticker or cannot find an on-street space, parking is available in the Rogers Foam lot during working factory hours which are from 9am-11pm Mon-Fri. There are signs posted throughout the building. Gates lock promptly at 11. So, please plan accordingly. Keep in mind the gate will be locked after those hours. DO NOT park in the lot on the weekends. If you do happen to park there and are locked out, you will have to wait until Monday morning to get your car.

For additional parking options, there are municipal lots close by that are about a ten-minute walk to Vernon. They are located at the City Hall Annex (Corner of Thurston and Evergreen) and at City Hall (93 Highland). Parking of course is open in the residential spaces on Sundays. For a map of municipal lots, visit this link: https://www.somervillema.gov/snow/off-street-parking or if you have questions about on-street parking passes, feel free to contact Somerville’s Traffic & Parking Dept. at (617) 666-3311 ext. 7900
